Frequently asked questions
Does anything get uploaded to the cloud?
Everything stays on your own computer. Your trades, positions, NAV history, cash transactions and settings are saved only on your machine — never on our servers and never in the cloud.
Is my IBKR Flex Token safe?
Yes. Your Flex Token and Query ID are stored on your own computer, encrypted by your operating system. They're never written in plaintext and never uploaded anywhere. When you sync, your computer talks directly to IBKR's official Flex Web Service over HTTPS.
Do you support brokers other than IBKR?
No. Helmfolio is engineered exclusively for Interactive Brokers using their Flex Query system. We'd rather do one broker exceptionally well than many superficially.
Does Helmfolio work for non-US / international stocks?
Helmfolio is engineered specifically for the US stock and options market (USD). While it can sync any IBKR account and convert base-currency cash items (like dividends and deposits), the core analytics, tax logic, and PnL reporting are fully optimized for US-denominated assets.
Multi-currency reporting for international exchanges (e.g. European, Japanese, or Korean markets) is currently outside our product scope. If your portfolio is primarily US-focused, Helmfolio will work beautifully for you — and the free tier lets you confirm the fit before you ever pay.
How much history can I analyze?
Helmfolio is built around IBKR's 365-day Flex window and merges every sync into a growing local history — duplicate trades are skipped automatically — so your record keeps building over time on your own machine.
Can I use my license on more than one computer?
A single Pro license can be activated on 2 of your personal devices. Moving to a new machine? Deactivate the old device inside the app first to free a seat, then activate the new one.
How do I back up my data or move to a new computer?
Yes. In Settings you can export your entire dataset to a single JSON file — every trade, position, NAV snapshot and cash transaction — and import it back on any machine to pick up exactly where you left off. You can also open your local data folder straight from Settings to copy or archive it yourself. Because everything lives on your computer, your records are yours to back up and carry anywhere.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every Pro plan starts with a 7-day free trial. A card is required to begin so the trial can convert seamlessly, but you're not charged until day 7 — cancel anytime before then inside your account and you pay nothing. After the trial it auto-converts to your chosen plan ($99/year founding, or $12/month). And because the free tier already does so much, you can also try Helmfolio thoroughly before you ever start a trial.
Is there a monthly plan, or only annual?
Both. Pro is $12/month billed monthly, or $99/year (founding price, locked in forever for the first 100 members) — the annual plan saves you about $45 a year, nearly four months free. You can cancel anytime; if your license lapses you keep all your data and simply return to the free tier.
